This model, in assembly and re-design phase, starting from a 1/43 SMTS kit, pays homage to one of the most beautiful cars that, in my opinion, ever raced in Formula 1. This version represents the only victory of the American pilot Dan Gurney in Belgium GP (1967 F1 Championship). The “Eagle” was strongly demanded and ideated by Dan Gurney and Harry Weslake, from whom comes the name of the 12 cylinders engine (V12), one of the few of this type. This racing car marked that age being as well the only American F1 model racing during 60’s.[...]
Pictures in this section show the various assembling phases of the model, with particular attention to self-built details. Starting from a 1/43 AMR kit, the “Maserati Birdcage 1961 longtail” was modified by eliminating some basic parts in order to embellish them with new components built from scratch (see captions). For the full building process 120 hours were necessary, 40 hours of which for solely soldering together the cage rods.
The “Ferrari 250 LWB California” was created by the Modena designer Sergio Scaglietti, who is the idea man behind all “berlinette” and “spider” from Ferrari in the years from 1960 to 1993. In the following pictures all details during assembling phase of a 1/43 AMR kit are presented. Each single image is provided with the relative caption.
