This diorama was built after acquiring a strong photographic documentation from specialized magazines and Internet. The scene was completely designed in 1/43 scale; Ferrari box was manufactured with plywood sheets wedged with milled panelists. Inner space was coated with red plexiglass panels on which some “pranging horse” decals were added. Work desks are in plasticard as well as toolboxes, respectively painted with steel and “Ferrari red” colors. A working lighting system, obtained by soldering different brass sections, was placed on the ceiling. Desk lamps, easels, various instruments and plasticard portcullis were inserted in the box. Machines for refueling are in plasticard, while engine starters are in turned avional. The structure holding compressed air cylinder pipes is made in black painted brass. Mechanics and other characters in white metal, handpainted, are from Phoenix miniatures. In order to precisely reproduce pilots helmets (Schumacher, Barrichello, Montoya, Fisichella and Trulli), an accurate research for details was performed on Internet. All other viewable components (fuel cans, pit lane, TV tower provided with cameraman, flags, race management building etc.. ) were built from scratch with different materials. F1 cars are handbuilt from Tameo kits, modified safety-car is from Minichamps, crane vehicle is a modified and repainted Conrad model, as well as the jeep for fire prevention. Trees are from blueberry branches on which Siberian flowers and microleaves (from Noch) were attached with spray glue. Streetlamps are original from Noch, while working traffic lights were self-built. The whole structure rests upon a wooden base and it’s covered by a protective dome in plexiglass. The diorama size is about 120 x 80 cm.
